Maryland Nursing Home Information
Voices has compiled tables (spreadsheets) for the nursing homes of Maryland in order to provide information that may be useful for the selection of a home. The information in the tables has been arranged in alphabetical order of the county and within each county the homes are listed in alphabetical order of the name of the homes.
The data within the tables has been gathered from two publically available sources, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare website and the Maryland Health Care Commission Nursing Home Compare website.
We take a great deal of effort to make the data presented accurate and timely. If you note any dicrepancies in the listings, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we may make corrections.
One of the most pertinent fields of data is the Overall Star Rating. A home receives ratings of one to five stars in this column, as computed from the fields for Health Inspection, Staffing and Quality Measures Star Ratings. The star ratings are computed by CMS using a rather complex formula and can generally be considered to be much like the star ratings that are given to hotels and restaurants by several organizations, with the homes receiving the most stars being considered to have more nearly met the specified quality criteria than those receiving fewer stars.
Table Number One contains basic information on each home including the ownership and management of those homes.
Table Number Two contains the number of health deficiencies, various star ratings, bed count and staffing data.
Table Number Four contains information on the family survey results, detailed health deficiency information and overall star ratings.
Nothing presented in these tables represents an endorsement of any home, but are merely things that you may wish to consider.
